Already a proven success in New Zealand, ActionActors has now launched in Australia.

Established in late 2011, the web based service has already provided aspiring and experienced actors and performers in New Zealand with over a quarter of a million dollars in supplementary income.

Co-Director Bruce Hopkins, a well known New Zealand actor, who played Gamling in Lord of the Rings says – “we’re excited that the format, which has proven so popular in New Zealand is able to be offered in Australia. Employers are always blown away by the quality of temp workers we can provide – and the feedback from the actors has been fantastic”.

ActionActors specialises in sourcing non-acting temp and casual work for actors and performers and works in conjunction with the actors agents. Hopkins says “ We discussed the idea with a number of actors agents to make sure they knew we were not invading their turf, as we needed their support to make it work – and this was a crucial part of our set up – to ensure the agents see us as a compliment to their service. This has proven to be the case – we have agents refer their actors to us as do the drama schools, its been fantastic.”

ActionActors Co-directors Anthony Hurst and Bruce Hopkins travelled to Australia in March to finalise registration, employment agreements and for a meeting with Actors Equity. The website is now live for actors and performers to join – see www.actionactors.com.au/signup
